Submission Guidelines

Every manuscript that reaches our editors carries months, sometimes years, of careful thinking about the Qur'an, its interpretive traditions, and the questions scholars continue to ask of sacred text. Jurnal Suhuf exists to give that thinking a rigorous, respectful home. Before you send your work our way, a few things will make the process smoother for everyone involved.

What We Expect from a Manuscript

Submissions should engage directly with Qur'anic studies, tafsir, hadith-adjacent scholarship, or broader Islamic intellectual history, written with the kind of clarity that invites rather than intimidates. We ask for original, unpublished work, properly referenced according to our house style, and free of material currently under review elsewhere.

  • Manuscript length between 6,000 and 10,000 words, including notes and bibliography
  • An abstract of 150–200 words in both English and Arabic where applicable
  • Transliteration following standard academic conventions for Arabic terms
  • Clear author identification removed from the body text for blind peer review

How Review Unfolds

Once received, each submission is checked for scope and formatting before moving to double-blind peer review, usually taking eight to twelve weeks. You'll hear from us at every meaningful stage, whether that means minor revisions, a deeper rewrite, or acceptance.

Questions about fit, format, or timing are always welcome; reach out through our contact page before you submit if anything feels uncertain. We'd rather clarify early than see good scholarship stall over a technicality.
